Eccentricity is similar to individualism within a society that encourages it. Eccentrics stand out from not following societal norms and taking on personal beliefs, justifying them without guidelines from others criticism. It is productive in creating a subculture within a larger societies standards.
This group of people have made a path and created an example that living out your dreams is possible through persistence and dedication. Their inspiration passes on to the observing audience in defying the box that education puts on creative/indifferent thinking. The art that is involved throughout our culture creating standards in advertisement and independent culture is derived from schools depriving our next generation of artists, inventors, and eccentrics. Societies importance on influencing eccentrics doesn't seem to fully impact the individual until they are gone. The importance of their character is judged from documented experiences, but not from their own way of thinking.

Part Two:
My question stems from the profile of Tommie Bass. My question was, "Does Queen Anne's lace have medicinal properties?".Queen Anne's lace has been cultivated and grown by herb growers due to other plants that look alike but are poisonous. When the carrot root is touched wet it can cause a skin irritation when exposed to light. The leaves can be used to treat kidney and bladder infections and prevent kidney stones. The root can be used to get rid of worms and treat kidney stones. The seeds of the plant have been used as a contraceptive. The oils from the seed can be used as a moisturizer, but can but can be harmful if taken orally. I found this interesting due to being a common wild weed that I normally admire for its beauty.
This is the link that I found which is based around a naturalist health blog. It provides detailed information of herbs and other naturalistic healing options. The site itself is connected widely with many social media outlets.

This herb article is very interesting and it is amazing that we have so much medicinal value in most of our plants/flowers that we live around. It would be a much more healthier way to consume medicine than being prescribed some vary dangerous medications
ReplyDeleteI found your research very interesting as my family's property is covered in Queen Ann's lace. We have about 10 acres that routinely blossoms with the stuff in the springtime. I've always thought of it as one of the more uninteresting flowers, due to its lack of color. This knowledge has changed my perspective on it though. It's more interesting to me now, knowing it has all these various affects on human health.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that such an ordinary plant could provide that many things to human health. I wonder if it can have the same impact with the health of animals.
ReplyDeleteI also did research on some herbs which was inspired from Tommie Bass' profile. I researched about the Queen Of Meadow which he gave to the young boy which helped "clear" his diabetes in 6 months. What I find interesting is how similar the benefits of these 2 herbs are to each other. I'm starting to see that a lot of the benefits from a lot of herbs are almost all the same for the most part except for minor difference.
ReplyDeleteI too found your research very interesting. It initially makes me wonder why traditional science and medicine doesnt embrace alternative forms of medicine like natural herbs. However, I think it largely has to do with the amount of money floating around in the pharmaceutical industry and thus medical industry. Its probably way more efficient for a business to mass produce drugs and pills rather than cultivate natural remedies, herbs and such. Although I think as people become more health conscious in the future it may start to become more prominent.
