Journal Three Post By Derick

Part One: Eccentricity to me is the definition of  a person being eccentric. To me a person who is eccentric is a person who is definitely a little bit out there, they are really creative and may stand for something that no one else cares about. Eccentric people are all over this world, and we need them because they keep this world we live exciting. I definitely think eccentricity is encouraged when it is funny or really neat. I think that if people get enjoyment out of someone being eccentric then it will definitely be encouraged. following up with this, I think eccentricity is extremely productive in movies because eccentric people in movies are hilarious with examples being Jim Carey, Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. I think a lot of times a time when eccentricity is valued or celebrated is an eccentric person passes away and they are remembered not as weird or crazy but eccentric in a good way. I think eccentricity is problematic when a person becomes obsessed with a bad habit or something that is dangerous for society. 

Now on to how eccentricity fits up with me, I myself do not feel that I am very eccentric. I feel as if a lot of things I like to do are very normal. I don't have any crazy obsessions or habits. One thing that I can think of that makes me different than maybe the majority of people is how driven I am. I am a business oriented person and I love to work. I enjoy sitting in an office and working on the computer all day, that is why accounting fits me so well. My hobbies though are very normal though, I enjoy lifting, playing sports and hanging out with friends and family. 

Part Two: One of my essay questions that I chose to research first is how many native american tribes are still around in the United States today. I found it very interesting to find out there are still 562 tribes left and account for more than 3 million people. I found an interesting site that I used for my research.

My research question came from Blackgoat's profile, and I was interested to see not only how many tribes are left but how many tribes live in their holy lands.


This picture expresses my thoughts because these native american's in the picture are living off of the land.



My other essay thesis questions are as follows:

How many falsely imprisoned black people are still in prison today? What were their stories and were they wrongly convicted?

Are Hobo's still around in america today? Are they like the hobo's of past times and how can we keep people that don't have homes around in society today?

What ever happened to disk jokeys? What happened to famous disk jockeys, did they change professions and are they still alive?

Are their any folk doctors around today? How does their practice compare to those we have read about in Holding on.
