Journal Eight/Ten: Response To The Presence Of Fear By Prem Naidu

In the response to the book In The Presence of Fear, I found on a quote which I disagree with is on page 7, “The aim and result of war necessarily is not peace, but victory, and any victory won by violence necessarily justifies the violence that won it and leads to further violence. If we are serious about innovation, must we not conclude that we need something new to replace our perpetual “war to end the war”? In the last line of the quote “War to an end, the war” is not the solution. Like Mahatma Gandhi said, an eye for an eye can make the world blind. So, the solution to a war is not a war. In war, lots of people sacrifice their lives and their loved ones just to give peace to people and end the war. Things can be solved without war. I always disagree when some say war is the solution to everything. Look at our history, people have suffered almost uninterrupted sequence of war. We put out people as a soldier to fight for us for peace. We put their lives in danger to protect ourselves which totally not fair. That’s why war to end war is not something I agree.
This book talks about environmental crises in some part. I agree with some of the facts this book provides. I agree that we need to educate people about how to save the environment and we must do that right now. Because sooner we start the sooner we can save our environment. In page 14 first paragraph, “we have an environmental crisis because we have consented to an economy in which by eating, drinking, working, resting, traveling, and enjoying ourselves we are destroying the natural, the God-given world!”. We live in a beautiful world where our ancestors came from and our present and future is. We cannot destroy our natural resources. We need to work smart and come up with solutions. We have provided with high technology and why can’t we use them to protect the environment from crises.
