Well done: I liked how you tied her into a time in history by talking about MLK and Malcolm X and her relationships with them, as well as her activism in the Civil Rights movement. It gave her work a lot of historical context, which is necessary to evaluate it.
ReplyDeleteConstructive criticism: I wish you would have given us a moment before the presentation started to just glance over the brochure and soak in some of the background information.
Maya Angelou is one of my favorite visionaries and I'm glad you guys picked her to do your project on! I really enjoyed that you gave a pamphlet with all her information instead of dragging us through slides of her whole life story. I enjoyed your explanations of her poems and how you talked the majority of time about very taboo things, I'm not sure many in our class have the guts to do so. You can tell you both practiced this presentation! The only criticism I have is one of you talked a lot more than the other, which is totally understandable if one of you wasn't too confident with speaking in front of the class but it would have been nice to have it split up a little! Great Job!!
ReplyDeleteThe presentation was very insightful. I really enjoyed hearing the taboos behind her work and the breakdown of why the caged bird sings. The comparison of her work and its development and uprising through the civil rights movement was enlightening. The handout really added a sense to her strong character through the black and white photos with the monotone color scheme. My only criticism would be that the poem was read over a bit too quickly in the end to absorb its depth. It was a really enjoyable presentation.
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Very informational presentation, it was well prepared and presented very well. I knew who Maya Angelou was but wasn't entirely sure of the accomplishments she has done and you guys did a good job of clearing that up. I thought she was a very inspiration visionary. I loved how you guys read some of Angelou's quotes from her earlier year. My only criticism was there might have been to many quotes, I like one or maybe two but I think there was quite to many in the presentation
ReplyDeleteI really liked your presentation. Maya Angelou was a very interesting woman to learn about. I really respect her for all she has been through and spoke about and I respect you guys for speaking about the issues she did. I truly incredible visionary and you guys did a great job!
ReplyDelete- Nice handout, colorful presentation
ReplyDelete- I like the quotes:
“My past is my present” – Maya Angelou
“People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, people will not forget how you made them feel” – Maya Angelou
- Well, organized information, your presentation shows you guys did lots of research and understand her story.
First and foremost, amazing handout! It was apparent how much work you guys put into that. Also it was nice to take something back to remember her life story. I thought you guys did a really good job explaining her legacy and how it is still prevalent today.
