Journal 10 - Tyler Bair

I agree with part XXIII of essay 1. We should be taught about more cultures than just what we can gather from television. Having it taught in a school as part of a curriculum is important for transparency in teachers. We do not want teachers mixing their political values with facts. The second point on that, where it says "And our leaders should have the humility and the wisdom to ask the reasons those people have for hating us." It should be fairly obvious to anyone what reasons a large group of people have for hating another larger group of people. Still, if the intent was to incite us to root out the problem into a conversation for a well thought out discussion to quell the hatred, that is very noble.

I love how he addresses the environmental issue at the top of page 14 not as one big problem, but a bunch of little adjustments that need to be made in order to restore the "god-given world." And that laziness is the root of most of these environmental problems. That even if most people have a change of heart, it won't be enough without the people in charge helping out.
