Journal 8: Tailor Wolf

  • One of the things in the book that I agreed with was on pg. 35 when it says, "People in movements too readily learn to deny to others the rights and privileges they demand for themselves. They to easily become unable to mean their own language , as when a peace movement becomes violent." I agree with this because you often see people become so passionate about their cause that they fail to take in the views of other people. When people protest for equality they sometimes forget that the people who stand on the opposing side have the equal right to voice their opinion whether it be right or wrong.
  • Something that I would like to look into more was on pg. 6 when he said, "Since September 11, far too many public voices have presumed to "speak for us" in saying that Americans will gladly accept a reduction of freedom in exchange for greater "security." I wonder about this only because personally I believe that security is extremely important to a country and that to some extent people will compromise to make sure they feel safe in their day to day lives.
