To start off my journal 10 post  I will start with something I agree with. I agree with the fact that Wendell Berry says we need to change how we are living because of how we are currently abusing the environment. I agree we need a change, we need to think more consciously about the environment just like he said so. One quote I found that I really like pertaining to this is “We have build our household on the assumption that the natural household is simple and can be simply used”.  I like this because I feel some people may think this way and maybe this is something that we need to shed a little light on so that people can think a little more about the world and a little less about themselves.

Something from the book that I did not agree with was his view of corporate America. He was very critical when talking about corporate America and in my opinion, very opinionated. Not once did he say a good thing about corporations and whether he likes it or not, that is the direction our country has taken and will always be in, so in my opinion a lot of his points were very unrealistic. A very opinionated quote I found pertaining to this issue is “A corporation, essentially is a pile of money to which a number of persons have sold their moral allegiance”. I think that this is a very false statement, I think there are a lot of people today that are very conscientious about how they invest and what type of companies they are affiliated with.

The one area of the book that Wendell talked about that I wanted to know more about is how Farming hurts our environment. This is something I don’t really have a lot of personal experience with, but I am curious about. I wonder about this because I don’t really believe that it is bad for our environment but I am going to write my paper on this topic so I will find out.
