The profile I enjoyed the most out of this list of profiles is Mariano and Clara Lucca, the couple who turned their Buffalo, New York home into The Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabel Museum. I was curious to see if there was any more information about this quirky couple and found out Clara lived to be 102 years old and died eight days after Columbus Day, which she did indeed help to make a national holiday. She was a skilled secretary, handled paperwork to send supplied to war-torn Poland, and helped organize political rallies for her husband.
I believe the writing is at its best on page 66, the last paragraph: "It's the truth. The truth must be maintained! You must fight for the truth! Columbus was the first man to plant a flag on our hemisphere! See, i'm talking here like a man of thirty, and I could act like a man of thirty. Maybe I could knock somebody's puss down, understand? I still got that in me. You got any more? Go ahead, ask 'em. I'll answer 'em all for you. Go ahead, shoot. I could take it." Mariano was ready to take down and literally knock out any one who lied about Christopher Columbus and I respect his spirit toward his cause.
An observation I saw about the structure and writing style of the profile is that Isay flipped back and forth between Mariano and Clara, almost play like and I enjoyed how it allowed us to know who exactly was saying what and allowing them to share their views by themselves. .
I too thought that passage was a good one. He wasn't scared to defend Christopher Columbus any day, yet in sort of an amusing way.
