1.) I researched "Roccket 88" from the Z.L. Hill profile. There were some interesting stories about this song and how it came about. The sound for this song came about because one of Ike's amplifiers was damaged on the way to a recording session and they just patched it up and continued to use it. This song hit number one on the Billboard R&B chart but was considered important to the evolution of rock and roll. The song was finally credited in 1991 by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for being the first recorded rock and roll song. If you go to the attached link there are more song facts for you to enjoy!

2.) I picked out the word
Buttress for my vocabulary word from the Jim Bishop profile. I was not familiar with this term. Buttress is defined as: a projecting support of stone or brick built against a wall.
3.) "How many people are here? The three of us! It ain't any good unless somebody's here to see it! If somebody ain't gettin' any enjoyment out of it, then it's just a pile of rocks!"
I really enjoyed this passage from the Jim bishop profile because it shows how much pride he has in his work and how much he wants to share his accomplishment with other people. He puts focus on showing off his work.
I also really liked this passage because it is about architecture and I am very interested in designing of houses. I looked up some images of this castle and amazed how he has designed it
ReplyDeleteReally interesting learning about the history of the song "Rocket 88". Rock N Roll era was huge back in the era and was a big deal to hit the billboards.
ReplyDeleteFor the Jim Bishop quote you shared here. Do you think his words reflected any repressed anger of doubt in what he's doing? To me, that's exactly what he's saying. It's a cry for help, he wants to share his creation or else it'll be lost with him. I think his greatest fear is not being remembered.
ReplyDeleteTailor, I thought it was interesting finding out the mean of a buttress. I have heard it hundreds of times but have not looked it up before. I also thought that Jim Bishops profile showed a lot of pride and it was an interesting read.
