"Holding On" introduces Stanley Kilarr, a vinyl record collector. He has so many vinyl records his house is literally sinking due to the weight of them. In my research question I was wondering, What person contains the most vinyl records ever and what is the worlds most expensive vinyl record. In my research I found that a 62 year old Brazilian business man named, "Zero Freitas" contains a collection of around a several million. To much to count and keep in his possession, he has majority of them sealed away in a large factory building. Also researching the most expensive vinyl record of all time is held by the "Sex Pistols" for the legendary album "God Save The Queen". This record is going for approximately $10, 578.00. There was 250,000 copies made, but majority of them were destroyed and only 9 remain in pristine condition.

Marino And Clara Lucca had a passage that I thought the writing was at its best. I say to him: "Well, you got your day, and you're still gonna have champions after the good Lord calls us" Listen, it may be a statue, but there's a figure from heaven in there, understand? His lips open and he talks to me! And it isn't imagination of an optical illusion. (pg 166) My first reaction to this passage was "Yikes" as I wrote down in my book as I thought this man was insane. The passage clearly shows that the Lucca's had a great admire for Christopher Columbus enough to talk to a statue and worship him as even a God.
A vocabulary word that I think is central to one profile is "compassion". This word is central to the story of Lydia Emery. Compassion is the sympathetic pity or concern for the sufferings or misfortunes of others. This word is compared to Lydia Emery because she had showed sympathy for the sick for many years and she made them pay only one single dollar for the years she was helping the sick and unfortunate. Lydia Emery she didn't care about the money she cared about helping people and letting there joy from saving money and getting well be her happiness.
Hello Nick another good research question could be how much money is all of Stanley vinyl collection worth together?

ReplyDeleteNick, I think your research on who owns the most records and most expensive records is very interesting. I think it would be really cool to figure out how much the several million records that Zero Freitas owns.
